Europeans are being urged to reuse and repair their goods as part of a week-long initiative to reduce waste.
Now in its ninth year, the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) campaign, which kicked off on 18 November, the is an annual event that raises awareness about rising pollution levels and promotes the actions needed to deal with it. And more than 13,000 actions, relating to reuse, recycling and waste reduction, have been committed to by people across 30 countries via the EWWR …
Of the 500kg of waste European’s bin annually, less that half is recycled, according to Eurostat. This year’s EWWR theme, Reuse & Repair: Give it a new life, calls on people to pause before trashing items, and to think of ways they can still provide a resource.
