COP27 can act as a springboard to a better future

That is a wrap from COP27 in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. A huge thanks to all of the amazing people who have joined me and Paula Maultasch, the creative executive producer of the Inside Ideas podcast, and shared their ideas, ambitions and reasons for being #ACopHalfFull of optimism about the opportunities that lie ahead for people and the planet. Yes, there are plenty of challenges but what we do know is we have the innovative solutions, and increasingly the political will, to have more than #ACopHalfFull of belief that a better future is on the way.

The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), organisers of the COP events, showcased some groundbreaking solutions throughout COP27, and before the curtain closed on the event, we caught up with Carlos Ruiz-Garvia, from the UNFCCC Global Innovation Hub, who told us “we need this optimism” because “we have the innovation tools” to “turn this agenda” on the climate and the SDGs “into a positive agenda”. And he called on people to embrace #ACopHalfFull of energy and optimism about the future, as “we all have a role to play” in creating it.
