Innovation in action: World Biodiversity Summit puts nature finance in focus at COP17

Taking place on 23 October in Yerevan, the World Biodiversity Summit will bring business, finance and policy leaders together to explore how investment and innovation can help turn global biodiversity commitments into action.

How can businesses and investors turn growing awareness of biodiversity loss into practical action? That question will be at the heart of the World Biodiversity Summit, taking place on 23 October in Yerevan, Armenia, as part of the UN Biodiversity Conference, COP17.

Hosted by the World Climate Foundation in partnership with the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), the summit will bring together leaders from business, finance and cross-sector initiatives to explore how investment and collaboration can accelerate action for nature.

The event will focus on moving from commitments to implementation — including how financial flows can be aligned with global biodiversity goals, how investment in nature can be unlocked, and how businesses can embed nature into their strategies.

Connecting business, finance and biodiversity

The summit comes as nature-related risks and dependencies become an increasingly important consideration for businesses and financial institutions. The challenge is to move beyond recognising those risks and towards decisions that support more resilient, nature-positive outcomes.

The programme will feature perspectives from across business and finance, with speakers including Luis Meyer of Grupo Boticário, Marcelo Behar of Ambition Loop, Anne Mette Erlandsson Christiansen of Arla Foods, Sajeev Mohankumar of FAIRR Initiative and Marijn Lanting of Rabobank.

Discussions will explore opportunities to connect biodiversity goals with investment decisions, corporate strategy and partnerships, helping turn shared ambitions into tangible action.

For innovators, the conversation is also a reminder that the transition to a more sustainable economy involves more than reducing emissions. Understanding how businesses depend on nature — and how their activities affect ecosystems — is an important part of building long-term resilience.

Part of a wider sustainability conversation

The summit forms part of the World Climate Foundation’s wider Roadmap 2026 programme, which brings together stakeholders across climate, nature, finance and sustainability.
