Smartphone taps provide 22M meals

Users of the ShareTheMeal app have provided 22 million meals for the world’s most food insecure communities, it was announced today.

The smartphone app – supported by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) – is harnessing tech to give people with the opportunity to make a small donation that will have a big impact. A meal can be provided with a tap authorising a paltry US$0.50 transfer, with the platform able to work in 10 languages and accept 30 currencies.

Congrats to everyone involved in achieving this landmark. You can contribute to achieving the next million.
