The BBC is on the hunt for a worthy recipient of its Food Chain Global Champion crown.

Last year’s winner of the category, which forms part of the BBC Food and Farming Awards, was South Africa’s Agriprotein, a maggot farming business that produces MagMeal, a ‘protein source for industrially farmed fish, pigs and poultry’. It is ‘made from the larvae of the black soldier fly, which are reared on food waste which would have otherwise ended up in landfill’.

The Food Chain award is targeted at companies and projects that are transforming how food is produced, consumed, and viewed by the world.

Nominations, and you can nominate yourself, need to be received by midnight on 15 February (GMT). The winner will be announced at the BBC Food and Farming Awards on 13 June in Bristol.
