There is a growing global movement firmly focussed on delivering game-changing climate solutions.
This movement is being driven from every corner, individuals, NGOs, corporates, governments – and more – are working to advance climate-friendly products and services, as well as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
And a UN-led awards platform recognised the work of some of them this week via the ‘Momentum for Change’ Climate Solutions Award initiative. The 19 winners, announced at an event in Berlin, included a collaboration between Procter & Gamble and TerraCycle, which is taking plastic waste found on beaches to make shampoo bottles for the Head & Shoulders brand; and a Californian winery powered by 100% clean energy that is the first wine company in the world to be zero waste certified.
“I want to congratulate this year’s award winners. Their passion, creativity and positive impacts on the ground are extraordinary, real-world examples of how the implementation of the Paris Agreement and the wider SDGs is happening at all scales, across all countries, and across all sectors of society,” said Patricia Espinosa, Executive Secretary of UN Climate Change.
