Female founders lead the way

(USA)

Five pioneering startups founded by female entrepreneurs have been selected to take part in the five-week Project Entrepreneur (PE) accelerator in New York.

Earlier this month Innovators Magazine reported that PE – supported by Rent the Runway Foundation and UBS – is striving to ‘break down the barriers for female founders’. With Jamie Sears, UBS Head of Community Affairs & Corporate Responsibility, Americas saying “female founders are the disruptors of our time”. And from the 200 startups founded by women who participated in the recent PE Intensive pitch weekend, five will now go forward to the accelerator at Rent the Runway Foundation’s HQ in New York.

“This year’s Project Entrepreneur winners represent innovation in an incredibly diverse range of industries, from healthcare and dental care to helping refugees to a language learning tool and beyond. The talent showcased by each has the potential to completely disrupt their fields and we look forward to working side by side with them this summer at the Rent the Runway headquarters,” said Jennifer Hyman, Co-Founder and CEO of Rent the Runway and Co-Founder of Project Entrepreneur.

Each of the winners will be given a $10,000 grant, $5,000 in legal services, and access to mentors and investors to advance their innovations.
