Young innovators under 30 are being urged to take part in the Youth Climate Action Challenge. Led by the Climate Reality Project and Global Shapers Community, the challenge is looking for solutions in five areas: circular economy; green cities; climate justice; nature; and civic engagement.
“This challenge is a global call for youth-led innovative solutions that protect people and planet from the devastating consequences of climate change,” the challenge website says.
The best 10-20 entries will take part in a six-month programme, pioneered by Global Shapers Community and The Climate Reality Project, to ‘help scale and advance their impact to better protect and support the global fight against the climate crisis’.

Young pioneers
Young people are leading the global response to inaction on climate change. The ongoing impact being made by this generation was celebrated in the documentary NOW – about young climate activists – named as the ‘winning production’ at this year’s prestigious Golden Nymph Awards, presented to the winners of the official competition of the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
Innovators Magazine is a proud media partner of the film, which was created and written by Claudia Rinke, a regular contributor to the magazine, and directed by Jim Rakete.
On where the idea for the film came from, Rinke said: “NOW is a documentary film about young environmental activists. Having worked internationally for the UN for several years as a Legal Advisor, I am aware how crucial the current young generation is for the course the world takes next. That was one of the reasons I have written two young adult books. Since there was a lot of interest to make a film adaptation based on my novel THE BRIDE I had the chance to also make a documentary film. It was immediately clear to me that I wanted to make a film about young activists. At the same time the climate movement gathered momentum and we had the rare opportunity to document this process from the beginning; we were there when history was written.”
