UPS wins Hunger Hero award

(SWITZERLAND)

UPS was presented with the Hunger Hero Award by the UN World Food Programme (WFP) at this week’s World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

The global leader in logistics was praised for being a ‘steadfast partner that is always quick to offer vital resources that are often in short supply during emergencies,” by WFP Executive Director David Beasley.

UPS is an integral part of the Logistics Emergency Teams (LET), established by WFP at Davos in 2005, which is an international network of ‘logistics and transportation companies’ that provides support during emergencies.

On receiving the award, David Abney, Chairman and CEO of UPS, said: “I’m honoured to accept this award on behalf of The UPS Foundation and all the hard-working employees who take part in emergency responses around the globe. As a global leader in logistics, we are able to provide the insight and expertise to deliver personnel, goods and services to the places that need them most during natural disasters and emergency crises. We look forward to continued collaboration with WFP to support the humanitarian community.”
