Social impact investing the new normal

Social entrepreneurs need access to the full range of investment streams, including growth capital. Otherwise solutions with the potential to tackle some of the most pressing global challenges will never see the light of day.

The Rubio Impact Ventures fund, a new fund being launched by the Social Impact Ventures team is one mechanism responding to the demand of innovators driven to deliver solutions with a social purpose. Backed by the European Investment Fund, the Rubio platform has around €100 million in capital to invest in projects that fall into three thematic areas: Circular Solutions; People Power; Healthy Living. Innovators can take a quick online test to discover if Rubio Impact Ventures is aligned and the right investor for them.

Bright new ideas with a social mission need the right funding to get off the ground – Paolo Gentiloni, European Commissioner for Economy

Alain Godard, Chief Executive of the EIF, said: “This EIF investment underlines what is really important in business: people and impact. The European Investment Fund has supported Rubio Impact Ventures since 2016, as we believe in its strong approach to invest in innovative projects with a positive and fundamental impact on people and the environment. A European, environmentally-conscious, VC ecosystem that can contribute significantly to societal and economic change, should be a priority for all.”

The Rubio team says it aims to further accelerate entrepreneurs with game changing solutions as it believes that the most valuable companies of our time will be those solving society’s biggest problems.

Helmer Schukken, Managing Partner Rubio, added: “Impact investing is becoming the new normal and we are very excited that our current and new investors share our vision to invest in entrepreneurs that create impact and deliver financial returns. Together we can reshape industries in ways that move our planet forwards in a sustainable and inclusive way.”

If you are a pioneer working on developing people and planet-saving innovations in one of thematic areas covered by the fund, take the test to find out if there are opportunities to collaborate with Rubio Impact Ventures.
