Morocco supports solar-powered mosques

|8 January 2017|

Morocco

The Moroccan government will supply mosques with solar power systems to increase public awareness in the huge potential of renewable energy.

A collaboration between Morocco’s ministry of Islamic affairs and the German government will see the former provide nearly three quarters of the initial investment, for a pioneering project designed to accelerate the country’s shift to clean energy solutions.

Around 600 mosques will be fitted with solar panels by 2019 as part of the Green Mosques project.
