Some of Europe’s finest young pioneers are competing for this year’s prestigious World Summit Awards (WSA). The 15 finalists, selected by an expert European jury, are all developing digital solutions that can positively impact the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“The WSA European Young Innovators initiative combines two major perspectives: first the commitment on the UN SDGs through Europe’s youth, and the positive shaping of the future of Europe,” said Peter Bruck, WSA chairman. “The UN SDGs must be our measurement, in terms of what to look at and where to look.”
He added: “Today we are living in a completely different environment. The global pandemic has shown more than ever how digital innovation can be essential and beneficial for delivering progress and positive impact. This year’s European Young Innovators present a wonderful showcase of purpose driven innovation and entrepreneurship.“
Among the 15 finalists is Croatia’s CircuitMess, which provides ‘DIY STEM kits that help kids to learn about science, electronics, AI, IoT, machine learning in a fun and easy way’; and WeSolve, from Denmark, a digital engagement platform supporting democratic public participation and data-driven decision making, allowing municipalities to connect directly with their citizens to make better transparent and inclusive decisions together’.
The finalists are: Akademi.al (Albania); #14toomany (Austria); Shayp (Belgium); CircuitMess (Croatia); WeSolve, Better Together (Denmark); Sharemac: Innovative and sustainable solutions for the construction industry (Germany); Userwill (Germany); Colibri Charity (Hungary); Snapstudy (Ireland); #Walk15 (Lithuania); KPI of Vilnius city (Lithuania); EnRoute (North Macedonia); CycleAI (Portugal); GirlBOT (Serbia); Alfabetar (Romania).
European Young Innovators Festival
The 15 finalists will pitch their innovations to an international audience, online on 24 November, during the European Young Innovators Festival. Hosted by the Austrian city of Graz the hybrid festival, which will run from 24 November to 2 December, will include ‘workshops, business blind-dates and inspiring keynotes’. Register now.
