An iconic London market is going to showcase some of the world’s latest food tech innovations next month.
The Market Hall at the city’s Borough Market will be transformed into Food Tech Village during the upcoming London Food Tech Week. Visitors will be able to sample and purchase a range of exciting and sustainable products, many of which are being introduced to the UK market for the first time.
Claire Pritchard, Borough Market trustee said: “Sustainability is pivotal to Borough Market’s operation, which is why we’re delighted to host this showcase of innovative Food Tech companies for London Food Tech Week. We think this Food Tech Village will take people’s experience of Borough Market to a whole new level, whilst giving people a glimpse into the future of food and drink innovation.”
Some of the companies that will be displaying their cutting edge products include Swedish firm, Simris Alg, which is using farmed algae to make omega-3; and London beauty company Optiat, which is taking unwanted ingredients to develop things including body scrubs from coffee grounds.
The Food Tech Village, being held from 2 to 4 November, is free to attend. The full London Food Tech Week programme, with events across the city, is on from 30 October to 4 November. Startups enjoy a 70% reduction in the ticket price to it. Click here to book.
