Falling Walls Global Call for Science Breakthroughs

The Falling Walls Global Call for Science Breakthroughs is an ‘international competition format that aims to identify the most groundbreaking scientific achievements of the world’.

Announcing the launch of this year’s call on Linkedin earlier today, the Falling Walls Foundation said: “Applications and nominations are welcome from researchers, innovators, start-ups and institutions worldwide. Winners from across categories will be invited to speak at the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin, bringing breakthrough research to a global audience of decision-makers.”

Categories cover a wide spectrum of the innovation world: life and physical sciences to engineering & technology, social sciences & humanities, art & science, science-driven start-ups, public engagement, and the Women’s Impact Award celebrating inclusive excellence and societal impact.

Winners will gain international visibility for their project, while becoming part of the Falling Walls network and connecting with decision-makers, innovators, and emerging talents in a cross-sector community committed to breaking down barriers and tackling shared global challenges. Some will also join the four-day Falling Walls Science Summit 2026 in Berlin where they will have the chance to be named Science Breakthrough of the Year, presenting their work to a global audience on 9 November 2026.

The Falling Walls Global Call for Science Breakthroughs 2026 is open until 15 April 2026. Apply or nominate now.
