Canadian startups bag major customer

Canada is giving early stage companies easier access to public contracts.

Through the new $100-million Innovative Solutions Canada initiative, startups and small businesses will be able to offer solutions to challenges proposed by government departments. And as the country’s biggest buyer of Canadian products, the Government is perfectly placed to give innovative young firms the opportunities they need to grow organically.

“Our government’s new Innovative Solutions Canada program is a big winner on several fronts. We’re being proactive and transforming our challenges into opportunities—opportunities for innovation, economic growth and small business success that will result in a vibrant innovation economy and more middle-class jobs for Canadians,” said Navdeep Bains, Canadian Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
