European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is giving the keynote speech at next week’s World Future Forum in Lisbon – a new hybrid event where finance and tech innovators will embark on “a conversation that will define tomorrow’s world”.
Organisers Allied4Future (A4F) will use the Forum as a launchpad to mobilise and mainstream sustainable finance mechanisms and game-changing technologies that can shape a fairer and more sustainable future – and are inviting global investors, policymakers, scientists, technologists and business leaders to join then in Lisbon.
“This event promises to be a groundbreaking and inspiring gathering of leaders in technology, finance, and policy, all committed to accelerating the transition to the next generation sustainable world,” said Dr Roland Strauss, head of K4I in the European Parliament – a leading A4F partner.
And with its new Sustainable Finance Goals (SFGs) – a framework for divesting, shifting, and mobilising capital to fund green ventures, AF4 says it plans to ‘leverage capital and investment mechanisms, not just as tools for financial returns but as powerful drivers of the transition to a climate-neutral and sustainable economy’.
“Join us at the World Future Forum to explore how today’s geopolitical landscape is driving technology and innovation to the forefront of the global agenda,” A4F posted on Linkedin. “This is a unique opportunity to strengthen strategic partnerships in key areas such as AI, quantum technologies, space technologies, clean energy, and material science – where breakthrough innovations are shaping the future.”
Taking place in venues in and around Lisbon – the 2023 European Capital of Innovation, A4F is organising the Forum in partnership with Taguspark – Knowledge City, the Portuguese Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Lisbon City Council, Delft University of Technology, and the Portuguese Quantum Institute.
Confirmed speakers include the Mayor of Lisbon, and former European Commissioner for Innovation, Carlos Moedas; and Maria da Graça Carvalho, the Portuguese government’s minister for environment and energy.
Eduardo Baptista Correia, CEO at Taguspark – Knowledge City, added: “It’s a beautiful country to come and talk about the future, to start joining efforts for a better future, to make sure we find new business, new startups, new business angels that might invest in new ideas, because we need to create a better future for the next generations.”
OnePoint5Media and Innovators Magazine are media partners of the World Future Forum, taking place on 4-5 of November at Taguspark – Knowledge City Unicorn Factory, Lisbon.
