Food Tank has proposed three ‘underreported’ discussion topics linked to food systems for the 2020 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) event in Texas. You can help put them on the agenda by registering – for free – on the SXSW and lending your clicks to these three:
The LGBTQ+ Community and the Good Food Movement panel will explore the contributions—and challenges—of the queer community in food and agriculture. Speakers include Nikiko Masumoto (Masumoto Family Farm), Keegan Kautzky (World Food Prize), and Nate Looney (Westside Urban Gardens).
Citizen Eaters: Food Voters in the 2020 Election ‘will discuss the key food issues and platforms at the center of the presidential election. Speakers include Navina Khanna (HEAL Food Alliance), Spike Mendelsohn (Chef and Food Policy Advocate), and Bob Martin (Center for a Livable Future)’.
The U.S./Mexico Border and the Food System, ‘speakers will reflect on how they’re working hard to build alliances advocating for immigrant farmworkers’ rights. Speakers include Teresa Romero (United Farm Workers), Baldemar Velasquez (FLOC), Joann Lo (Food Chain Workers Alliance), and Gustavo Arellano (writer)’.
The iconic SXSW takes place in Austin, Texas, 13-22 March, 2020.
