To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Innovators Magazine in 2025, every month this year we will publish some of our milestone moments: the stories, podcasts, initiatives, projects and partners that have shaped our journey so far. Here’s a 2019 story on a unique UNFCCC-led initiative reshaping the future.

The future as you have never seen it before
The UNFCCC-led Resilience Frontiers initiative is co-creating an Earth-positive future that younger generations can finally get excited about. Out are the problem-solution mindsets shaping today’s world – in, a unique lens through which to see climate-resilient futures beyond 2030 – and pathways of action that lead us there.
This is the future at its most powerful, awe-inspiring best, a place people can turn to as a source of inspiration.
And in Songdo, South Korea, this week some of the brightest minds on the planet gathered to begin opening the world’s eyes to this future, when they took part in a first-of-a-kind collective brainstorming event.
“This is the start of a collective intelligence process on how best to respond to the deep societal transformations driven by emerging technologies and new sustainability trends, and maximise our resilience to climate change beyond 2030,” said Youssef Nassef, Director, Adaptation Programme, UNFCCC. “It has brought together 100 visionary thinkers and thought leaders for five days of collective thinking and brainstorming inspired by the Futures Literacy Laboratory framework developed by UNESCO.”
OnePoint5Media, producers of Innovators Magazine, was in Songdo, as an invested actor in the initiative, and co-created a special event brochure with Resilience Frontiers to mark the milestone moment.

2025
Resilience Frontiers is now at the forefront of creating climate-resilient futures along 8 action-focussed pathways of transformation, engaging younger generations in the design process, and inspiring a collective mindset shift that is reshaping the future. The initiative also launched a brand-new film festival and competition at this year’s iconic Sundance Film Festival, inviting filmmakers to bring the Resilience Frontiers pathways of transformative change to the big screen with films that offer a glimpse into an Earth-positive future.
