Textile giant champions sustainability

Arvind – a global pioneer in sustainable textile manufacturing – announced this week it is joining the Fashion for Good (FFG) initiative. Headquartered in Amsterdam, FFG brings together the biggest names in fashion; and Arvind is the latest to sign up to lending its expertise and vision to the growing collective, which also supports startups and scale-ups advance innovations designed to reshape the industry.

“Sustainability & Innovation are our key strategic growth pillars and we have always attempted adoption of innovation in textile manufacturing. We are pleased to partner with Fashion for Good and are committed to promote the Sustainable technologies originating from the FFG platform. We are looking forward to working with these technologies to fuel next set of growth in manufacturing for us with the aim of growing with drastically less environmental impact,” said Punit Lalbhai, Board of Directors, Arvind.

On a recent visit to Fashion for Good in Amsterdam, I was introduced to a buoyant ecosystem of game changers defining the future of fashion. We’ll have more on FFG, and the many trailblazers establishing the Dutch city as the new global capital of the burgeoning sustainable fashion industry, in the upcoming spring edition of Impact Innovators. Sign up for our newsletter to get the digital edition straight to your inbox.

On Arvind joining the FFG movement, Katrin Ley, its Managing Director, added: “By having Arvind join Fashion for Good, all of the innovators and stakeholders are gaining in- depth knowledge and support from a unique pioneer in manufacturing. We are immensely proud to see the entire fashion ecosystem come together, to implement and scale innovative solutions across the fashion value chain.”

If you are in Amsterdam, I recommend taking a trip to the Fashion for Good Experience, an interactive tech museum all about sustainable apparel – it is engaging, inspiring, and well worth a visit.
