By 2050, two-thirds of the global population, which it is estimated will be close to 10 billion people by that point – up from 7.2 billion today, are likely to live in cities, according to the UN, from its current figure of 54%. So Urban October, led by UN-Habitat, which kicks off today with World Habitat Day, and concludes on 31 October with World Cities Day, will see events and meetings held worldwide to support efforts in building sustainable #WasteWiseCities
