Renewables to power vessel’s epic trip

|20 February 2017|

France

The Energy Observer will set sail from Paris in May for a truly epic round the world trip to “prove that a cleaner world is possible”.

Harnessing the energies of the future, it will be the first hydrogen vessel powered by a mix of renewable energies. It will use wind power and solar power. It is also equipped with a smart traction kite to convert the engines into hydrogenerators which transform seawater into hydrogen.

The Energy Observer Odyssey will visit over 50 countries on its amazing six year journey – which will end in 2022 – as it works to collaborate and learn from sustainability innovators worldwide.
