Portugal’s renewable electricity production outstripped consumption last month, according to new figures.

The data released by the Portuguese Renewable Energy Association and Sustainable Earth System Association reveals that in March, the 4,812 GWh produced was more than the 4,647 GWh used on the mainland. And at 103.6% of consumption it beat the previous record of 99.2% set in February 2014.

Hydro and wind were the big contributors at 55% and 42% in March.
