Get along to the circularity festival

If you are in Amsterdam this week, the Beyond Next event offering businesses ‘practical solutions to accelerate towards a circular economy’ is in town.

Taking place on 7 and 8 February, Circle Economy and the Amsterdam Fashion Institute (AMFI) are hosting the packed programme that will see ‘industry professionals, students, artists and government actors co-create ideas to create a more sustainable world’ in a city with big ambitions to become an exemplar of circularity.

“Amsterdam aims to be a fully circular and climate neutral city by 2050. Urban leadership will lead the way on delivering the positive effects of a circular economy,” said Marieke van Doorninck, Deputy Mayor at The City of Amsterdam.

Exciting speakers, including Kate Raworth, author of ‘Doughnut Economics’ and Frans van Houten, CEO of Phillips will take to the stage to inspire the 800 plus people attending from across Europe to embrace a circular mindset.

Beyond Next follows hot on the heels of the recent report by Circle Economy, released at last month’s World Economic Forum, which signalled that cross sector actors need to do far more in supporting the Paris Agreement to limit global temperature rises to less than 2˚C above pre-industrial levels.
