A Chinese power company is using ‘flame-spewing’ drones to destroy dangerous rubbish caught on electricity cables.

The inventive use of the technology in Xiangyang, Hubei Province, was broadcast by China’s People’s Daily. It shows a plastic bag being burnt off high-voltage wires by a remote controlled drone. It is an innovative method of clearing the type of flying debris, which can become entangled on the wires and lead to power outages.
