The European Investment Fund pledged €60 million support today for a fund that helps scale businesses powering the clean energy economy.
The Future Energy Ventures Fund I, managed by Future Energy Ventures (FEV), a global venture capital investor spun out from the world of E.ON, says the strategy is to work with digital and software ventures developing solutions that can help decarbonise the energy sector.
“The clean energy economy is the greatest business opportunity of our generation, and we are excited to be raising our second fund at this pivotal moment,” said Jan Lozek, founder and managing partner of FEV. “We are grateful to our investors for their commitments to our Fund and look forward to continuing discussions with potential institutional and strategic investors that share our vision.”
On the decision to invest in the fund, EIF Chief Executive, Marjut Falkstedt adds: “Better managing our energy needs is one of the most important challenges of our time. That’s why we are excited about our participation in Future Energy Ventures Fund I. This investment aligns perfectly with the EIF’s strategic objectives and our commitment to driving the energy transition and supporting decarbonisation efforts across Europe.”
