Countdown to Junior World Food Day

Young school children aged between six and 12 are being urged to get their dancing shoes for Junior World Food Day on 5 October.

It is a chance to ‘meet food heroes and get inspired to make change happen and become a food hero too’, the organisers say.

“Get ready to sing along with the launch of the Food Heroes’ music video,” the event’s website says. “And that’s not all! Listen to students talking about their school food environments and take the opportunity to ask questions to our food heroes.”

The special event kicks off at 2pm CEST on 5 October: check out the full Junior WFD Programme.

World Food Day

Following hot on its heels is World Food Day 2021 on 16 October, which will call on businesses, governments and individuals to do more to help achieve #ZeroHunger. Organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), it inspires thousands of actions and events every year.

“The food you choose and the way you consume it affect our health and that of our planet. It has an impact on the way agri-food systems work,” the WFD site says. “So you need to be part of the change.”
