Countdown on to European biotech showcase

|7 October 2016|

Scotland

Glasgow is the host city for this year’s European Forum for Industrial Biotechnology and the Bioeconomy (EFIB).

EFIB brings together leading industry executives and pioneers working for a shift towards renewable, biologically-based manufacturing.

The country’s largest city won the competition to hold the ninth annual EFIB conference thanks to the Team Scotland approach taken by the relevant stakeholders involved in the bid. The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC), Scottish Enterprise, SDI, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau worked with partners such as The Knowledge Transfer Network and Innovate UK to demonstrate Scotland’s strengths in the industry.

Roger Kilburn, CEO of IBioIC said: “The UK biotechnology sector is growing year on year and Scottish companies are at the forefront of this movement. We are delighted to bring EFIB to Glasgow, providing excellent business opportunities for the Scottish economy and demonstrating how innovative we are as a nation.”

EFIB will be held at the SECC: 18-20 October.
