Corporate power becoming greener

Wind turbine giant Vestas is the latest big name to join an international initiative pushing for corporates to get their energy from renewable sources.

It follows the likes of JPMorgan Chase and Citi bank, both of which signed up in September, in committing to the influential RE100 campaign – led by The Climate Group and CDP – which now has more than 110 members.

The Danish manufacturer has been getting its electricity from 100% renewable sources since 2013, so it will lend a powerful voice to the RE100 group, encouraging industry and governments to be more ambitious in shifting to clean power.

“Vestas is already using 100% renewable electricity across its own operations to create wind power infrastructure,” said Sam Kimmins, Head of RE100, The Climate Group. “Now the company is furthering that leadership by joining RE100, and calling for important policy changes that will enable more companies to plug into renewables too.”
