The first-ever World Future Forum was held in Lisbon this month – with European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, opening the event, which saw global technology, finance, and policy leaders take part in what was labelled “a conversation that will define tomorrow’s world”.
Carlos Moedas, Mayor of Lisbon and former European Commissioner for Innovation; and Maria da Graça Carvalho, the Portuguese government’s minister for environment and energy, were also among the speakers at the Allied4Future (A4F) organised event.
Sustainable Finance Goals
A4F unveiled its new Sustainable Finance Goals (SFGs) in Lisbon – which were welcomed by von der Leyen. They offer a framework for divesting, shifting, and mobilising capital to fund green ventures. A4F also plans to ‘leverage capital and investment mechanisms, not just as tools for financial returns but as powerful drivers of the transition to a climate-neutral and sustainable economy’.
