A new report showcasing 100 global businesses building the biobased economy with renewable chemical applications has been released.
Compiled by the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), the Renewable Chemical Platforms Building the Biobased Economy paper profiles companies making progress in ‘commercialising renewable chemical applications’.
“BIO’s new 2018 report documents the contribution that 100 companies are making to rapid growth of the biobased economy. On a global scale, BIO estimates the value of biofuels, renewable chemicals and polymers, enzymes, biobased materials and the agricultural inputs is approximately $355.28 billion. In capturing a snapshot of the industry’s status today, the report illustrates the rapid evolution of the biobased economy,” said Brent Erickson, executive vice president of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section.
He added: “BIO is a global leader in advocating policies that support commercialisation of emerging renewable chemical technologies and companies. We are also the host of the BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology, which each year showcases innovation in renewable chemicals and offers the best opportunities for partnering and business development within the industry.”
