America

Tech giant Apple has been given the go-ahead by US authorities to start selling its surplus renewable energy.

After launching a subsidiary – Apple Energy LLC – in June to sell its renewable energy, the decision by The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has now given it the right to start selling from its solar farm in California.

Apple has said its Californian solar farm can generate power for 60,000 homes.

The company already runs entirely off renewable energy at its sites in over 20 countries. So there is a lot more to come from Apple in this sector.
