America goes big on wind energy

(USA)

America’s largest – and the world’s second largest – wind farm is to be located in Oklahoma.

The multi-billion dollar 2,000-megawatt Wind Catcher project is being developed through a partnership between GE Renewable Energy and Invenergy. It is due to be operational by 2020 and will give more than a million US customers access to clean energy.

“GE is delighted to be a part of the groundbreaking Wind Catcher project with Invenergy and American Electric Power. We look forward to putting our teams to work in these communities as we continue to move toward our goal of ensuring that no one has to choose between sustainable, reliable and affordable energy,” said Pete McCabe, President and CEO of GE’s Onshore Wind business.
