UNICEF on the hunt for innovators

Startups working in augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) are being encouraged to apply to a UNICEF innovation fund and use their expertise to improve children’s lives.

Innovators have a month to apply to join a cohort which will focus specifically on these frontier technologies.

“The UNICEF Innovation Fund is looking for startups that are developing and piloting new open source VR/AR solutions,” the fund’s website states. “The Fund provides early-stage seed funding to startups with a strong team and a clear path to impact on children’s lives. For this cohort, we are looking for startups with a working VR/AR prototype (hardware, software or content).”

Between ‘$50-90,000 in equity-free seed funding’ is available.

While the Unicef Innovation Fund welcomes applications on a rolling basis, applications for the AR/VR platform must be submitted by 11.59pm (EDT) on 17 September.
