Solar energy is breaking new records in a UK currently basking in sunshine.
On Friday the National Grid revealed that power from the sun had met nearly a quarter of demand at one point.

“Britain has just hit another milestone in its effort to harness the increasingly cheaper energy coming from the sun,” said Hannah Martin , Greenpeace UK’s Head of energy. “All around the world, solar power keeps beating new records as costs come down and power generation goes up.”
A report released in March by SolarPower Europe revealed it was a record-breaking year for solar energy in 2016, with global solar installations growing by around 50%.
