Food computer could save lives

The World Food Programme and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are working together on a pioneering ‘food computer’ project that aims to provide nourishment to Syrian refugees living in Jordanian camps.

Developed by MIT, the so-called ‘food computer’ uses hydroponic technology to grow produce without the need for fertile soil. The collaboration team is currently developing the perfect recipe to allow plants to be grown at scale and implemented in the camps by the Autumn.
