Women drive innovation forward

April 26 is World Intellectual Property Day – and an occasion to celebrate the female innovators transforming our world.

Women have always been at the forefront of the biotechnology industry, from Rosalind Franklin, who has an award in her name and was ‘instrumental in the discovery and our greater understanding of the molecular structure of DNA’ –  to the likes of Sandra Mjöll Jónsdóttir, CEO of life-sciences company Platome Biotechnology, who continues that legacy of impact today.

Sandra said: “I think it’s important for women to be involved in innovation and  creativity because women are as creative and innovative as anyone else – and it’s better for everyone if women are involved. If you exclude women you may be excluding up to half of the available ideas but if you include women you are driving innovation forward.”
