Dubai to launch passenger drone service

(DUBAI)

An autonomous drone capable of transporting one individual up to 50km will take to the skies of Dubai this summer.

The Chinese-made EHANG184, exhibited at this week’s World Government Summit in Dubai, is built to carry a passenger weighing up to 100kg.

With just one single click to take off and land, the autonomous aerial vehicle – which is piloted, directed and monitored via a command centre – is a major step forward in the self-driving revolution.

The Dubai service, set to launch in July, is the result of a collaboration between Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and China’s Ehang, who want to bring “everyone in the world closer to the much-anticipated dream of autonomous aerial flight”.
