What has the UN ever done for us?

United Nations (UN) Day today provides the perfect opportunity to recognise the amazing work of the ‘world’s only truly universal global organization’.

As part of the UN Sustainable Goals (SDGs) platform, it is striving to end hunger by 2030 and is currently providing food and assistance to 80 million people in 80 countries.

Backed by 193 member states, the body, which is celebrating its 72nd birthday, has a rather impressive resume. It carries out a huge number number of projects and initiatives which improve the lives of those who need help. These include coordinating a US$23.5 billion appeal for the humanitarian needs of more than 101 million people, supplying vaccines to 45% of the world’s children, helping save 3 million lives a year – and much more.

Happy anniversary UN.
