Today is Sustainable Gastronomy Day and an occasion to embrace eating habits that are good for the planet.
Think globally, eat locally is one of the big messages citizens worldwide are being encouraged to think about when they go shopping.
Here’s Professor Johan Rockström speaking about how sustainable food and climate change at the 2016 Nobel Week Dialogue.
“The General Assembly, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) work to facilitate the observance of Sustainable Gastronomy Day, in collaboration with Member States, UN organisations and other international and regional bodies, as well as civil society, to observe the Day in raising public awareness of its contribution to sustainable development,” the dedicated UN website reveal.
