We support the #ClimateStrike

Our Editor-at-Large, Marc Buckley, recently met the inspiration for today’s #ClimateStrike being held by school children in Scotland – and across the UK. Young Swede, Greta Thunberg, has been making the headlines worldwide for leading a movement she launched last year when standing outside her school with a sign proclaiming: Skolstrejk för klimatet (school strike for the climate). Speaking to leaders gathered in Davos last month about the state of our planet, Greta said: ‘our house on fire’. Her no nonsense words to those in power is having an impact, cutting through the standard spin and platitudes we often hear in discussions on the climate crisis. This voice is being amplified daily, as her peers in every part of the world they are committed to protecting speak up and join the #ClimateStrike – everyone at Innovators Magazine thanks them for leading from the front in communicating the biggest threat to humanity, directly to those with the power to do something about it.

Responding to UK PM, Theresa May’s criticism of the strike, Greta tweeted: British PM says that the children on school strike are “wasting lesson time”. That may well be the case. But then again, political leaders have wasted 30 yrs of inaction.

May’s clueless comments are very much what you would expect from an out-of-touch leader now infamous worldwide for her chaotic handling of Brexit.
