Acclaimed singer songwriter, advocate for sustainable food systems reform, and my great friend, Eva Keretic, is my guest today on Inside Ideas.
We have always needed storytellers, good storytellers, to inspire people to reimagine what is possible. To present us with new ways of looking at the world, to change perspectives and to push people to pursue new goals and ambitions.
Song can burst through those tightly closed doors in our mind that often stand in the way of change. Once opened our imaginations are free to flow in every direction, towards new journeys of thought, and towards enlightenment. Stirring emotions and desires that tell us we can do more, we can be more.
And right now we all need to do more. A universal truth the power of storytelling can help communicate to all. And it is exactly why ‘do-gooder songwriter’ types – as Eva refers to herself, who understand the big challenges we face, are so important for the future of people and planet.
Eva, who has produced and performed six albums of original music, was already throwing herself into the ‘do-gooder songwriter’ passions of saving the world from war and climate change when she was accepted to train as a Climate Leader with Al Gore and his Climate Reality Project. What she remembers most from her climate training with the former U.S. Vice President, was that he said: ‘take what you’ve learned from my experiences and my presentation and weave it into your own narrative’. Powerful words – and perfect for a songwriter to work with.
And my great friend has being doing just that. While in her spare time she has also been known to meet with politicians and managing directors, to discuss financing innovative vertical farm projects run on 100% renewable energy. Because Eva just doesn’t tell great stories through her music, she is at the heart of efforts to take forward transformative change.
On the show, Eva talks to me about the Future Food Campus, regenerative farming, music, Al Gore and much, much more.
