Brussels will host a conference later this month focussed on finding solutions to the scourge of plastic waste.
The Reinventing Plastics – Closing the Circle conference on 26 September will tackle what is a major societal problem. A report by the circular economy’s Ellen MacArthur Foundation, revealed the devastation it is causing is our seas, saying that “by 2050 oceans could contain more plastics than fish (by weight)”.
Stakeholders from government, industry, civic society and research institutions will gather in the Belgian capital to discuss potential solutions that can be incorporated in the ‘EU action plan for the Circular Economy’, which makes commitment to developing a plastics strategy.
