The 2020 Olympic Games in Japan is on track to be a gold medal winner when it comes to sustainability.
There are solar panels on top of the new Musashino Forest Sport Plaza, which will host fencing and badminton at Tokyo 2020. Built by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the facility is the first new permanent venue that is ready for the Games. And using renewable energy will help organisers reduce the carbon footprint of the Plaza.
It is in line with the overall sustainability strategy underpinning the plans. Earlier this year Innovators Magazine also highlighted the work that is going on to make it the circular economy Games.
