In a straight talking interview, the Chief Executive of the EU’s leading climate innovation initiative tells us ‘we need to change innovation’.
Dr Kirsten Dunlop, CEO of EIT Climate KIC speaks with a refreshing clarity and purpose about the transformational change needed to effectively create a collaborative culture of innovation that can deliver a world we all want to live in.
“Everything about the way we do innovation is wrong and we need to pivot the entire thing. We need to do it now,” Dr Dunlop told our Editor-at-Large, Marc Buckley, at last month’s COP24. “The change that we so desperately and urgently need, and are least equipped to do, is the change to ourselves, and that should be at the core of innovation, for transformation of the self. We need to affect change by being agents of change on ourselves and with ourselves in the broadest and most interdependent terms we can create. We are collectively suffering from a failure of imagination. We are naming what we need to move away from but we are failing to name what we want to move in to.”
