A pioneering initiative in Syria is supporting children in the war-torn country learn more about food and nutrition.
The ‘school gardens’ programme from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization has taught around 3,400 children how to grow fruit and vegetables, teaching them about importance of healthy eating.
It is one a number of innovative cross-sectoral projects underway to support the Syrian people. We reported recently that companies are being encouraged to offer refugees work opportunities, particularly Syrian refugee women and young people in the Middle East, through the Tech for Food platform, led by the World Food Programme (WFP).
