Six cities have been named finalists in the European Capital of Innovation 2020 awards (#iCapitalAwards). Romania’s Cluj-Napoca, Espoo in Finland and Helsingborg in Sweden are joined by Valencia, Spain; Vienna, Austria; and Leuven, Belgium. The top city will walk away with €1,000,000 to invest in its innovation initiatives, with the runners up receiving €100,000 each.
The winner will be announced on 24 September during this month’s online European Research and Innovation Days event (22-24 September 2020). When the winner of this year’s EU Prize for Women Innovators will also be revealed, along with the EIC Horizon Prize for Affordable High-Tech for Humanitarian Aid, and the Horizon Impact Award winner 2020.
