The European startup scene is in the spotlight this week.
Hundreds of events are underway in more than 50 countries across the continent as part of the Startup Europe Week (SEW) programme.
“Europe has always been home to world-leading inventors and innovators,” blogged Andrus Ansip, European Commission Vice-President for the . “Today, these often come in the form of small businesses and web startups: young high-potential companies that create the ideas and jobs that we need for our economic growth.”
The SEW, backed by the European Commission, is a platform which helps raise awareness about the ‘resources and opportunities available locally’ for early-stage companies; and it enables startups to ‘link and interact with other regions to create new networks and ecosystems’.
