Youth Standing Up for Human Rights is the theme of today’s 2019 Human Rights Day. The energy, intellect and passion of young people worldwide right now feels like an unstoppable fuel accelerating us all towards a sustainable future. Holly Robertson, my five-year-old daughter, is the youngest member of our team. She shares her opinion on stories, themes and has been along to events, including the launch earlier this year of Resilience Frontiers in Songdo, South Korea. Holly is part of a game changing global movement of young pioneers pushing for change; change that can deliver a planet that leaves nobody behind.
“Why Youth? Youth participation is essential to achieve sustainable development for all. Participation in public life is a fundamental principle of human rights. Young people are seeking to participate in all decisions that have a direct and indirect impact upon their wellbeing. They need to be heard to inform more effective decision-making and achieve sustainable development for all,” the UN #HumanRightsDay page states.
