Innovators magazine is backing the Scotch Whisky Association’s Stand up for Scotch campaign calling on the UK chancellor to make a 2% cut in excise duty.

According to the SWA: “last year’s decision by the chancellor to support the industry through a cut in duty has boosted confidence in the sector, leading to more jobs and investment, including in some
of our most fragile rural and urban communities.”

The same announcement in the upcoming budget would create greater confidence in the industry and help encourage further investment in growth and jobs.

With an increasingly competitive international market place it is vital that government is working hard for one its greatest assets, which the chancellor himself described as “one of the UK’s biggest exports.”
