Spotlight on social impact startups

Vienna will become the global capital of ‘digital innovation’ next month.

The Austrian city will host the WSA (World Summit Awards) Global Congress 2018 – which is set to attract startups and digital innovators from more than 120 countries. WSA, which was first launched in 2003, promotes and celebrates digital pioneers that are delivering social impact, especially those advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The awards element will continue to recognise achievements in a variety of areas, including environment and green energy; and from young innovators. This year’s Congress also boasts a top lineup of international speakers, including business angel and tech pioneer, Shinta Dhanuwardoyo, who will speak about her experience of the Indonesian market.

“The startup scene here just started probably four, five years ago. About 90% of our economy relies on small and medium enterprises, so for me social entrepreneurship in Indonesia must touch on this sector, finding a way to empower this sector,” she said.

Tickets for the event – which will be held from 20 to 22 March – are available now. Follow hashtag #WSAVienna for all the build up on Twitter.
